Equipment Safety and Maintenance
Dinghy Storage

Ensure correct lifting procedures at all times.

Extra care to be taken when transporting dinghy into storage position in The Boatshed.

Lay water drainage rags in stern of dinghy.
Dinghy Usage
-
The dinghy is not to be launched if the average mean wind strength exceeds 21 Knots (39 Kph) or if the conditions are judged to be dangerous by those present.

Dinghy to be manned by two members at all times.Members to be wearing Life Jackets as provided.Member driving dinghy to hold current Boat License.Check that oars are in the dinghy.

Ensure that no person is in danger from the propeller when operating the electric thruster.

Lower electric thruster only when sufficient water to prevent propeller hitting bottom and becoming damaged. When returning to shore lift electric thruster up prior to propeller hitting sand.

Remove positive battery clip when electric thruster is not in use.
After Use

After every use of the dinghy, and before storage, wash down all the equipment used e.g.. dinghy, electric thruster, trolley, battery, oars, life jackets.
Battery

Use 1 amp “Plug-in” battery charger to charge battery.

Check battery acid levels and top up with distilled water if required.

Clean battery and terminals. Wipe terminals with petroleum jelly to prevent corrosion.
Electric Thruster Maintenance

Keep thruster clean of all rust.

Check propeller for damage.

Clean Battery clips and grease to prevent corrosion.
Boat Trolley
-
Ensure that tyres are pumped up at all times.

Ensure that boat is firmly locked on the trolley
B-B-Q
-
After use clean BBQ plate and frame.
-
Ensure gas bottle valve is closed correctly and return BBQ to Storage place.

Check gas bottle and fill as required.
The Boatshed

Ensure that The Boatshed is kept clean and tidy at all times.

Ensure that none of our equipment hinders access to other people’s equipment kept in the storage place.
