Code of Conduct

Participation in activities organised by the Mawson Lakes Model Yacht Club is a privilege that is accorded to members of the club. With that privilege comes responsibility.

  • The responsibility to ensure that all members are able to participate in club activities in an atmosphere of goodwill and good humour.
  • The responsibility to ensure that no member is the subject of abuse or derogatory remarks.
  • New members are to be given every encouragement to learn the basic points of the sport/hobby.

Breaches of this Code of Conduct may lead to sanctions being applied.

All members are to ensure that they enter into the spirit of the club by adopting the following actions;

  • Have your Membership Card available for vetting when attending club events.

  • Offer to help with club events.

  • Use pegs on Frequency Board when arriving at venue.

  • Ensure you use a life-jacket when in the dinghy.

  • Ensure all club positions are nominated for AGM.

  • Ensure that you are a Financial Member (Fees due 1st July each year).

  • Immediately report to the Secretary any accidents that are likely to cause an Insurance claim.

  • Encourage others to join the club.

  • Before a visitor sails your boat he/she must be introduced to the Sailing Master if participating in an event or is sailing unsupervised.

  • If you have a problem or suggestion about the club please send it in writing to the Secretary so that it can be raised for consideration at the next Committee Meeting.

  • Contribute articles to secretary for inclusion on Website.

Members are reminded that the club is a COMMUNAL club run for the benefit of all members and requires that ALL members do their bit towards both its successful operation and thus, in turn, ensuring pleasurable sailing is enjoyed by everyone .
